About Coalition
Coalition is a cyber insurance provider that bundles its insurance policies with active cybersecurity monitoring tools, based on the idea that a good cyber insurer should help prevent breaches from happening in the first place, not just pay out after an incident has already occurred. Policyholders get access to Coalition's security platform, which continuously scans a company's external attack surface for vulnerabilities like exposed servers, outdated software, or leaked credentials, and proactively alerts the business when it detects a risk that could lead to a breach, rather than the business only discovering that exposure after an attacker already has. This proactive risk-reduction model benefits Coalition financially too, since preventing a breach is cheaper than paying out on a claim after the fact, which aligns the company's incentives around helping customers actually improve their security posture rather than treating insurance purely as a payout mechanism after something goes wrong. When a security incident does happen, Coalition provides access to its own incident response team and a network of vetted forensic, legal, and breach response experts, aiming for a much faster response than a policyholder trying to assemble that same team of specialists on their own during an active incident. The company primarily serves small and mid-sized businesses, a segment that has historically been underserved by cyber insurance products originally designed around the risk profiles and budgets of much larger enterprises.
