Baselane is a financial platform for independent landlords and real estate investors that combines banking, rent collection, bookkeeping, and reporting in one product built around the way a rental business actually works. Its landlord banking, provided through a partner bank, lets an investor open multiple accounts and virtual sub-accounts to separate funds by property or purpose, with no account fees and interest on balances. Rent collection handles online payments, autopay, late fees, and reminders, and every transaction, whether from the Baselane account or from linked external bank and card accounts, is automatically categorized into real-estate bookkeeping categories at the property and unit level, producing profit-and-loss statements, cash-flow views, and tax-ready reports. Baselane also offers tenant screening with credit and background checks, and it has added tools around lending and analytics. It is aimed at owners of anywhere from one to a few dozen units, including short-term-rental hosts and people managing single-family and small multifamily portfolios, who want an alternative to juggling a personal bank account, a spreadsheet, and a separate rent-collection app. The core platform, including banking and bookkeeping, is free, with revenue from banking economics and paid add-ons for premium features.
