Spacelift is an infrastructure orchestration platform that sits on top of infrastructure-as-code tools and adds the workflow, policy, and governance layer that the command-line tools lack. It runs and coordinates Terraform, OpenTofu, Terragrunt, Pulumi, CloudFormation, Ansible, and Kubernetes from a single control plane, connecting to version control so that pull requests trigger plans, previews, and applies with human approval gates. Its policy engine, based on Open Policy Agent, lets platform teams codify rules about what changes are allowed, who can approve them, and how runs are prioritized, and it provides drift detection with optional automatic remediation, cost estimation before apply, dependency management between stacks, and reusable modules with a private registry. Spacelift is aimed at platform engineering and DevOps teams that have outgrown running IaC by hand or in generic CI and need auditability, self-service for developers, and consistent guardrails across many stacks and cloud accounts. It can be used as a hosted service or deployed self-hosted, including on-premises and in air-gapped environments, and it has introduced an agentic model for provisioning infrastructure from natural language. It offers a free tier for small projects and paid plans that scale with concurrency, users, and features.
