SciSpace

SciSpace, formerly known as Typeset, is an AI research platform that supports the full academic workflow from literature discovery through reading, synthesis, and writing. Researchers can search a corpus of hundreds of millions of papers with natural-language queries, and SciSpace acts as a reading companion inside a PDF: highlight a dense paragraph and ask what it means, request a plain-language summary, extract the methods or datasets used, or ask follow-up questions about the findings, with answers grounded in the paper and cited. Its literature review tools let users build structured comparison tables across many papers on a topic, and it offers citation management and an assistant for drafting sections with sourced references. Because the company started as a manuscript formatting tool, it can also output papers formatted to specific journal templates in Word or LaTeX. In late 2025 SciSpace added a specialized biomedical research agent alongside its general research agent. It is used by more than a million students, PhD candidates, and researchers. SciSpace offers a free tier with limited AI usage, and paid subscriptions that raise message and upload limits and unlock the deeper review, agent, and writing features.
