Xometry is a marketplace that connects buyers who need custom parts made with a large network of manufacturing suppliers. An engineer or procurement buyer uploads a computer-aided design file, and Xometry's instant quoting engine analyzes the geometry and returns pricing and lead times for processes including CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, 3D printing, injection molding, urethane casting, and die casting, across many materials and finishes. Once an order is placed, Xometry routes the job to a suitable supplier in its network, manages quality inspection and logistics, and stands behind the parts, so the buyer deals with one company rather than sourcing and vetting shops individually. For the thousands of small and mid-sized manufacturers on the supply side, Xometry provides a stream of work, financing, and tools to run their shops. The company also operates a supplier services and marketing business. Xometry is publicly traded and its marketplace has generated close to a billion dollars in revenue for participating manufacturers, with tens of thousands of active buyers. Quoting is free; Xometry is paid on the parts and services ordered, earning the margin between what buyers pay and what it pays suppliers, plus subscription and advertising revenue from its supplier tools.
