Trophy is a gamification API that lets product teams add achievements, points, levels, streaks, and leaderboards to their own application without building and maintaining that gamification logic and data model themselves from scratch. Instead of a full white-label gamification platform with its own user-facing interface, Trophy is built as infrastructure: developers send events to Trophy's API when a user does something meaningful in the product, like completing an onboarding step or finishing a workout, and Trophy handles the underlying logic of tracking streaks, awarding achievements, and calculating leaderboard rankings, returning data the product team's own frontend then displays using their own design system rather than an embedded, off-brand widget. This API-first approach means gamification feels like a native part of a product's own UI rather than an obviously bolted-on third-party feature, which matters a lot for products where visual consistency and brand feel are important to the core user experience. Trophy's dashboard lets non-engineering team members configure achievement rules and view engagement metrics on how gamification features are actually affecting retention and usage, without needing an engineer to redeploy code for every small tweak to a rule. It's aimed at product teams at consumer and B2B SaaS startups who believe gamification mechanics can meaningfully improve engagement and retention but don't want to build that system's data model and logic themselves.
