Teachable is a platform for creators, educators, and businesses to build, host, and sell online courses, coaching programs, digital downloads, and memberships without managing their own website infrastructure. Founded in 2014 and acquired by Hotmart in 2020, it provides a course builder that supports video, text, quizzes, and completion certificates, a customizable school website and sales pages, and built-in checkout with payment processing, order bumps, coupons, and affiliate tools. Teachable handles the operational side of selling education, including EU VAT and US sales tax calculation and remittance through its payment system, student management, and basic email and analytics. It also offers a mobile app for students and AI features that help draft course outlines and content. Teachable is aimed at individual experts and small education businesses who want to launch a paid course quickly rather than assemble a separate site builder, video host, and checkout. In its 2025 pricing update the company removed its free plan for new signups and restructured tiers: an entry plan carries a percentage transaction fee on sales, while higher monthly plans remove that fee and raise limits on the number of courses, students, and admins, with standard payment processing fees applying on all plans.
