## About Tana

Tana is a note-taking and knowledge tool built as an outliner where every line is a node, and its defining feature is the supertag: applying a tag to a node gives it a defined structure of fields, so tagging something as a task, a person, a meeting, or a project automatically adds the relevant attributes and makes it queryable. This lets users build a personal database out of ordinary notes without designing tables up front, and live search nodes then assemble dynamic views, like all open tasks due this week, that update as notes change. Tana leans heavily into AI and capture: it can transcribe and summarize meetings, take voice memos and turn them into structured notes, chat with a user's knowledge base, and generate content and images, with the goal of turning messy capture into organized, actionable information. It has apps for web, desktop, and mobile, and added offline support in 2025. Tana developed a strong following among power users during an invite-only period and is now generally available. It offers a free plan that includes monthly AI credits for transcription and chat, and paid plans that add more AI usage, larger workspaces, and collaboration features.
