## About Sketch

Sketch is a design tool for user interface and product design that helped popularize the modern screen-design workflow. Its editor is a native macOS application focused on speed and a lightweight feel, with vector editing, reusable symbols and components, shared libraries, layout grids, and variable typography and color styles. Around the Mac app, Sketch has built a web platform for the collaborative parts of design work: viewing and inspecting designs in the browser, real-time co-editing of documents, commenting and review, prototype sharing with password protection, and developer handoff with measurements, assets, and code snippets. Designs are stored in Sketch's workspace so teams can manage versions and access without emailing files. Sketch supports plugins and assistants that extend the editor and lint documents against team conventions, and it integrates with prototyping, animation, and project tools. It remains popular with individual designers and agencies who prefer a fast native tool and are already on macOS, though it competes with fully browser-based alternatives that also run on Windows. Sketch is sold as a subscription that includes the Mac app and web workspace, with an option to buy a perpetual license for the Mac app plus a limited period of updates.
