Privy is infrastructure for adding crypto wallets and web3 functionality to applications without forcing users through the friction that has historically driven people away, such as installing a browser extension and safeguarding a seed phrase. With Privy, a developer can let users sign up with an email address, phone number, social login, or an existing external wallet, and Privy provisions an embedded wallet behind the scenes that the user controls, with the private key secured through techniques like secure enclaves and key splitting so neither Privy nor the app can access funds. It handles authentication, session management, transaction signing and prompts, funding through on-ramps, and connecting to external wallets, exposed through SDKs for web and mobile, and it works across many blockchains. This lets consumer apps, games, fintech products, and marketplaces offer crypto features that feel like a normal login. Privy powers tens of millions of accounts across more than a thousand development teams, including major exchanges and consumer crypto products, and it was acquired by the payments company Stripe in 2025 while continuing to operate as an independent product. Privy offers a free tier for a limited number of monthly active wallets, with paid plans that scale by active users and add advanced controls and support.
