## About Lex

Lex is a word processor built around AI assistance, designed to keep a writer in flow rather than switching to a separate chatbot. It looks like a clean, minimal document editor, but AI is woven in: typing a trigger anywhere prompts the model to continue the current sentence or paragraph based on the surrounding context, an Ask Lex sidebar functions as an editor that can give feedback on a draft, sharpen an introduction, or point out weak arguments and unclear passages, and it can rewrite selected text to specific instructions. Lex also handles the practical parts of writing software, with cloud autosave and version history so earlier drafts can be restored, sharing and commenting for collaboration, and standard formatting. It supports multiple underlying models from the major AI labs. Lex is made by the team behind the media company Every, and it launched to a large early audience of writers, journalists, and knowledge workers who wanted AI help without leaving their document. It is aimed at people who write seriously, from essays and newsletters to reports and books. Lex offers a free tier with a monthly allowance of AI actions, and a paid Pro subscription that removes limits, adds access to more capable models, and unlocks advanced editing features.
