Fingerprint is a device intelligence platform that generates a highly accurate, stable identifier for each browser or mobile device visiting a website or app, even when users clear cookies, use incognito mode, or try to hide behind a VPN. Developers add its SDK, and Fingerprint returns a visitor ID plus a set of Smart Signals, such as whether the request is coming from a bot, an emulator, a tampered browser, a VPN or proxy, or a device that is part of a farm of physically co-located devices. Fraud and security teams use this to catch repeat offenders creating multiple accounts, detect account takeover attempts, stop promotion and referral abuse, and reduce friction for known-good users by not challenging them repeatedly. Fingerprint grew out of the open-source FingerprintJS library and now identifies over a billion devices a month for more than six thousand companies, including large consumer platforms, with the company emphasizing defense against increasingly automated, AI-driven fraud. It offers a free open-source library with lower accuracy, a free trial of the full identification service, and paid plans priced by the number of API calls or identification events, plus enterprise agreements.
