Clio is a cloud-based practice management platform for law firms, especially solo practitioners and small to mid-sized firms, covering the business side of running a legal practice. Its core product handles matter and case management, contacts, calendaring and deadlines, document management, time tracking, billing and invoicing, trust accounting compliant with bar rules, and reporting, and a companion product manages client intake and customer relationship management, including online scheduling, intake forms, and e-signature. Clio also operates a large app marketplace and open API so firms can connect accounting, research, e-discovery, and other tools. In recent years it has added client payment processing and, through the acquisition of a legal research and AI company, generative AI features for research, document analysis, and drafting delivered in an AI workspace. Clio is used by tens of thousands of firms internationally, publishes an annual industry report on legal trends, and raised a large funding round in 2025 at a valuation around five billion dollars. It is sold as a paid subscription priced per user per month, across tiers that add the intake and CRM product, advanced features, and the AI capabilities, with discounts for annual billing.
