## About CleanShot

CleanShot, often referred to as CleanShot X, is a screen-capture and recording utility for macOS that replaces the built-in screenshot tools with a faster workflow and a much larger feature set aimed at people who communicate with visuals every day. It captures standard screenshots, full scrolling pages, screen recordings, and GIFs, and after a capture an overlay lets the user immediately annotate with arrows, text, blur, and shapes, extract an interface element with background removal, or hide desktop icons and clutter before shooting. Captures can be copied, saved, or uploaded to get an instant shareable link, with options to password-protect a link or have it auto-delete after a set time, and a built-in history keeps the last hundred or more captures one click away. It also includes tools like a color picker and the ability to pin a screenshot as a floating reference. CleanShot is developed by an independent software company and is used by hundreds of thousands of people, particularly designers, developers, support teams, and anyone writing documentation or bug reports. It is sold as a one-time purchase for the app, with an optional paid subscription that adds cloud storage and sharing features for teams and heavier users.
