# Leading Bids

> A permanent leaderboard ranked by the lifetime dollars each product has paid.

## How it works

Leading Bids is a permanent, pay-to-rank leaderboard, distinct from the engagement-based main-feed rank. A product's lifetime bid total grows three ways: a direct bid placed on the /bids checkout (whole US dollars, minimum $1), a promoted sidebar slot purchase, and a Sponsor a Run purchase - each adds its price to the total. The homepage shows the top 3; the full ranked list lives at /bids.

Ranking is strictly cumulative total paid, all-time, highest first. Being outspent by another product lowers rank but never removes a product's recorded total - nothing is taken away, a product simply may rank lower than one that has paid more. There is no time limit, no expiry, and no slot capacity to run out of.

Contributions are final and non-refundable, except for a duplicate charge or a legally required refund; ending a promoted slot does not reverse its contribution. New bids require a published, non-reported product owned by the bidder - same eligibility rule as promoted sidebar slots; archived or not-yet-launched products remain eligible.
